Trapped – Automower® error message
The Trapped message appears when the Automower® robotic lawn mower encounters multiple loop or collision events within a short period of time.
Common causes
- Obstacles: The mower is stuck behind an obstacle, such as outdoor furniture.
- Narrow passages: The work area includes small or narrow passages that the mower struggles to navigate, e.g. between the boundary wire and an island or obstacle.
- Grass too high: The grass is too long.
- Grass chunks: Grass chunks are preventing the blade disc from rotating.
How to resolve it
Move the mower and remove obstacles
- If an object is blocking the mower’s path, move the mower to an area free of obstacles, remove the obstacles and restart the mower.
Isolate obstacles
- If the mower always gets trapped in the same spot (e.g. under a children’s trampoline), create a stay-out zone or an island to isolate the problem area and restart the mower. If it still collides with the obstacle, expand the isolated area.
- For more details, see: How to create an island in an Automower® installation and Creating a stay-out zone with AIM Technology.
Adjust work areas and stay-out zones
- Ensure that virtual work areas and stay-out zones created using AIM or EPOS Technology provide enough space for the mower to operate. If the work area is too small, the mower may get trapped. Adjust your work areas and stay-out zones accordingly.
- Follow the step-by-step guide for information on how to create an island with AIM Technology or go to the map section in the Automower® Connect app if you have an EPOS installation.
Adjust the boundary wire
- If the work area between the boundary wire and an island or object is too small, the mower may get trapped. Move the boundary wire if the mower always gets trapped in the same spot close to the boundary.
- For more details on boundary wire installations, see: How to install the boundary wire in an Automower® installation.
Clean the mower regularly
- Keep the mower clean and free of grass chunks that can prevent the blade disc from rotating. See more tips on How to clean your Automower® robotic lawn mower.
Maintain grass height
- Ensure that the grass does not exceed the maximum height recommended for your Automower® model, as this can cause the mower to become stuck.
