Setting up your Automower® robotic lawn mower with Google Assistant
Before you can control your robotic lawn mower with Google Assistant, it must be added as a device in your Google Home app. For instructions on how to do this, see Add an Automower® robotic lawn mower to Google Home.
Supported languages
For information on the languages that can be used to control your mower with Google Home, refer to Languages supported by Google Assistant.
Activating Google Assistant
Google Assistant is always ready to assist you, whenever and wherever you need it. Simply say “Hey Google” or “OK Google”, followed by any of the commands below to control your mower.
For more information on how to activate Google Assistant, refer to Use Hey Google voice searches & actions.
Naming your mower
When issuing commands to your mower, you can use the following names:
- “Automower” or “mower” (if you have only one mower added to your Google Home).
- The specific name of the mower, such as “Hawaii” as shown in the examples below. The mower’s name is specified in the Automower® Connect app, under My Mowers > Mower details. We recommend choosing a mower name that is easy to pronounce to avoid misunderstandings with Google Assistant.
- “All Automowers” or “all mowers” (if you have multiple mowers added to your Google Home).
Commands
Start
Provided that the mower is sufficiently charged, this command will start the mower for 12 hours, overriding the schedule. After 12 hours, the mower resumes according to the schedule.
When using the command, you will be asked for the Google pin code. To set a Google pin code, open the Automower® Connect app, tap the menu icon and select Account > Google pin code and enter a four-digit code. For more information on the Google pin code, see Set a Google pin code in the Automower® Connect app.
Examples:
- “Start Automower”
- “Start Hawaii”
- “Start all my mowers”
Note: If someone has pressed the STOP button on your mower, Google Assistant cannot restart the mower. Instead, you must enter the PIN code on the mower keypad and close the hatch to restart it.
Resume
This command resumes operation according to schedule, for example, if the mower is currently paused or parked. The command will only start the mower immediately if the mower is scheduled to run. If the mower is charging, it will start when the battery is sufficiently charged.
Examples:
- “Resume Automower”
- “Resume Hawaii”
- “Resume all my mowers”
Note: If someone has pressed the STOP button on your mower, Google Assistant cannot restart the mower. Instead, you must enter the PIN code on the mower keypad and close the hatch to restart it.
Park
This command sends your mower back to the charging station, where it will remain for the duration of this mowing session.
When the next scheduled mowing session starts (for example, the following day), the park command is no longer valid and your mower will resume mowing your lawn according to the schedule.
Examples:
- “Park Automower”
- “Dock Hawaii”
- “Send the lawn mower home”
- “Park all my mowers”
Pause
This command pauses your mower at its current location until you issue a new command. When you use a pause command, you can easily restart your mower with Google Assistant or the Automower® Connect app. If you want to pause your mower for more than 25 minutes, we recommend that you park the mower instead.
Examples:
- “Pause Hawaii”
- “Stop mower”
- “Stop Automower”
Status
This command provides a brief update on your mower’s current activity.
Example:
- “What is Hawaii doing?”
- “Is Automower running?”
- “What is Hawaii’s battery level?”
- “What are my mowers doing?”
Additional commands
Google Assistant can respond to any standard phrases, such as “Please repeat”.
