BLi-X battery error LED flashing - what it means and how to fix it

If the error LED on your Husqvarna BLi-X battery is flashing, it usually indicates a temperature-related issue or a charging problem.

This guide will help you identify the cause and take the right steps to resolve it.

Why is the BLi-X battery error light flashing?

Battery temperature out of range

The most common reason is that the battery is too cold or too hot to operate or charge.

Too cold or too hot to use

  • If the battery temperature is below -10°C (14°F) or above 70°C (158°F), it will not work (discharging disabled).

Too cold or too hot to charge

  • If the battery temperature is below 5°C (41°F) or above 50°C (122°F), it will not charge.
  • Let the battery warm up or cool down naturally.
  • Move the battery indoors if necessary.
  • Only use or charge the battery when the ambient temperature is between -10°C (14°F) and 40°C (104°F).

Understanding the BLi-X battery indicators

Battery error indicator flashes

This usually means the battery is either empty, too cold or under stress from heavy use.

  • Battery is empty: Fully charge the battery

  • Heavy workload in cold conditions: warm up the battery by operating it at low speed or bringing it indoors.
  • Still not working? Remove the battery, let it rest and press the battery indicator button to reset.

Battery temperature indicator behaviours

Solid ON

This means the battery is outside of the safe operating temperature range.

  • Keep the battery in a temperature range of -10°C (14°F) to 40°C (104°F) for reliable use.

Flashing light

The battery is approaching its safe temperature limits.

  • Lower the speed or reduce workload to prevent overheating.
  • For optimal performance, aim to operate between -10°C (14°F) and 30°C (86°F)

Quick tips to prevent future battery errors

  • Always charge your battery in a room-temperature environment.
  • Avoid storing or using the battery in extreme cold or heat.
  • Don’t continue heavy use if the temperature warning is active.
  • Give the battery time to rest if it shuts down unexpectedly.
