Alarm! Outside geofence – Automower® error message

The message Alarm! Outside GeoFence typically appears when the Automower® robotic lawn mower is moved outside its designated GeoFence.

GeoFence is a GPS-based theft protection that makes a virtual fence for the mower. If the mower moves beyond a set distance from the centre position, it will be disabled, and an alarm will start. The PIN code is necessary to stop the alarm and to start the mower again.

Common causes

Mower moved outside of the GeoFence area

The most common reason for this error message is that the mower is moved outside its designated GeoFence. This may occur if the mower is stolen or transported to a dealer for winter storage. To avoid triggering the alarm, remember to turn off the GeoFence before intentionally moving the product outside the work area.

If the error message appears inside the work area

This error message can also appear when the mower is inside the work area. Here are some common causes:

  • GeoFence settings: The GeoFence settings need to be adjusted (radius and sensitivity).
  • GeoFence centre point: The current centre point of the GeoFence needs to be reset. This can be the case in parts of the work area where the GPS signal is weak or inconsistent.

How to update GeoFence settings

To update the GeoFence settings in the Automower® Connect app, you need to be connected to the mower via Bluetooth to access the security settings in the app. Follow these steps:

  1. Go to Settings
  2. Select Security
  3. Enter your PIN code
  4. Select GeoFence
  5. Using the slider, define the radius for the GeoFence
  6. Click Save
