Why does my leaf blower start and then die?

While working with your Husqvarna leaf blower, it can shut off unexpectedly. This could mean there is an issue with the product.

No fuel in the leaf blower

The first thing to check is if there is fuel in your product. Make sure that the leaf blower is filled with fuel before starting it.

Old fuel in the leaf blower

The next thing that can affect your leaf blower is old fuel.
If you store your leaf blower with fuel in it, the fuel can become stale. This will result in the system becoming clogged or restricted.

Fuel-related failures are not covered under warranty. The product would need to be serviced by a local authorised service centre.
Before storing your leaf blower, make sure that there is no fuel in it to prevent this type of issue. Always use fresh fuel when starting your product.

Dirty or worn air filter

If your leaf blower still starts and then dies, check the air filter. Clean or replace the air filter if it is dirty or damaged.

Spark arrestor

Another reason why your leaf blower starts and then dies could be because the spark arrestor is dirty or clogged. If this is the case, clean it with a wire brush.

If your leaf blower dies when turned sideways, it is usually because the fuel filter is held away from the fuel as the position of the product changes. The fuel filter must be able to stay in the fuel as the position of the chainsaw is changed.

Husqvarna leaf blowers are equipped with fuel lines of specified lengths and flexibility along with weighted fuel filters. This allows the filter to “follow” the fuel and remain submerged. It is important to always use the correct fuel line and fuel filter for your specific product. You can find this information in the operator’s manual.

Your leaf blower may also die when turned sideways due to leakage or because the fuel lines need to be reset. In this case, please contact your local authorised dealer.
