Ride-on lawn mower won't start
This article is about why and how to start a ride-on lawn mower.
There can be many instances when your Husqvarna ride-on lawn mower will not start. The reasons for this can vary, depending on the type of ride-on lawn mower, the state of the battery and the temperature.
Ride-on lawn mower will not start
The most common reasons for a ride-on lawn mower not starting can be:
- The battery is empty (not charged); this can happen after winter storage or if the product is not used for a long period of time. Charge the battery according to the instructions. If the battery dies quickly after charging, or will not charge, replace it with a new one.
- Before starting your ride-on lawn mower, make sure that the parking break is engaged, otherwise the product will not start.
- The cutting deck is lowered; after working on with your ride-on lawn mower, lift up the cutting deck, otherwise the product will not start next time due to safety reasons.
Ride-on lawn mower is hard to start
If a ride-on lawn mower is hard to start, the most common reasons can be:
- Old fuel; use fresh fuel, especially after winter storage.
- Spark plugs might be dirty or damaged. How to examine and replace a spark plug on a ride-on lawn mower
- Air filter is dirty or damaged. How to clean or replace the air filter on a ride-on lawn mower
Sleep mode
Sleep mode is a state of your ride-on lawn mower's battery that occurs when the product is not used and the battery charge is lower than 40%. Sleep mode prevents the battery from draining completely.
To start your product from sleep mode:
- Hold the START button for 10 seconds
- Connect the ride-on lawn mower to the charger
If this does not work, charge the product for 48 hours. This will "wake up" the ride-on lawn mower.
P-break is in the wrong position
When trying to turn on your ride-on lawn mower, you may encounter this symbol.
If the P-break, or the lock to the electric parking brake system, is in the wrong position, you will not be able to start your product.
In this case, release the lock to the electric parking brake system and move the lever to the left position to disengage the electric parking brake system.
Charger is connected to the ride-on lawn mower
When you are finished charging the battery in your product, unplug the charger from the ride-on lawn mower. Otherwise, it will not start.
Activated cutting deck
If the cutting deck is activated on your product, it will not start for safety reasons. Lift the cutting deck and turn on the ride-on lawn mower in the usual way.
Low battery charge
If the battery is not charged enough (yellow stripes on the battery display), the ride-on lawn mower will not start. Charge your product, disconnect it from the charger and turn it on in the usual way.
