Why is my chainsaw smoking?
If you experience smoke coming from your Husqvarna chainsaw while you are using it, there could be two places that the smoke is coming from:
- From the engine
- From the chain and bar
Smoke from the engine
If the smoke is coming from the engine there might be a few different colours:
- Black smoke indicates that the air filter is blocked.
- White smoke indicates that there is condensed water heating inside the chainsaw.
- Blue smoke indicates that the engine might be flooded.

Smoke from the chain and bar
If the smoke is coming from the chain and bar while cutting wood, it may be caused by the following:
- The type of chain is not suitable for the specific wood type.
- The lubrication holes on the bar are clogged.
- The depth of the gauge setting is not set correctly for the particular wood type.
- The chain is dull or not sharpened correctly.
