Starting a petrol ride-on lawn mower

There are different types of ride-on lawn mowers. Some have manual choke and other an automatic choke.

The starting procedure differs depending on the type of mower you have.

Ride-on lawn mower with a manual choke

1. Make sure that the bypass arm is in drive position. If AWD, there is one bypass arm for each axle.
2. Sit on the seat to engage the seat switch.
3. Lift the cutting deck.
4. Engage the parking brake.
5. If engine is cold, use full choke.
6. Put throttle in mid position.
7. When the engine starts, immediately release the key.
8. Gradually disengage the choke.

Ride-on lawn mower with auto choke
