How to assemble the bar and chain on a chainsaw

Assembling the guide bar and chain correctly on your chainsaw is crucial for your product to work properly. Follow the videos for the correct and easy assembly.

How to assemble the guide bar and chain on a chainsaw

  1. If using a battery chainsaw, remove the battery.
  2. Make sure that your chain brake is disengaged.
  3. Before handling the chain, make sure to put on a pair of protective gloves.
  4. First, remove the guide bar nuts from the post. Once the guide bar nuts are off, remove the clutch cover.
  5. Take the guide bar, set it on the posts and slide it back as far as possible.
  6. Take the chain and make sure that the cutting teeth are facing the appropriate direction.
  7. Slide the chain around the clutch and onto the sprocket.
  8. Give it a small spin to make sure that the chain is on the sprocket.
  9. Insert the chain’s drive links into the guide bar.
  10. Once on the top of the guide bar, roll the chain around the sprocket on the guide bar.
  11. To make sure that the chain is seated in properly, give the sprocket a spin.
  12. The post for the tensioning screw on the clutch cover needs to be in the slot for the guide bar. Put the nuts back on the post and tighten them by hand.
  13. Take the socket spanner, grab the end of the guide bar, hold it up, insert the socket spanner into the tension screw and turn it clockwise.
  14. Once all the slack is out of the chain, make sure that there is free movement and tighten the guide bar nuts back down.
