Getting started with the Smart Connections in the Automower® Connect app
Using the Smart Connections in the Automower® Connect app, you can let your Google Calendar events control your Automower® robotic lawn mower on top of the normal mowing schedule, for example, or have your mower parked from sunset to sunrise to protect animals visiting your garden at night.
The Smart Connections in the Automower® Connect app are based on so-called IFTTT (If This Then That) applets. An IFTTT applet is a way to get your apps and devices talking to each other. It allows you to perform tasks that the apps or devices could not do on their own.
This article will help you get started with using Smart Connections in the Automower® Connect app.

Requirements
To use the Smart Connections in the Automower® Connect app, you need the following:
- A mower with Wi-Fi or mobile connectivity, or a mower with an Automower® Connect kit installed
- The Automower® Connect app
- An iOS or Android device
- An IFTTT account
Connect an IFTTT account to your Automower® Connect account
To access the available Smart Connections in your Automower® Connect app, tap the More button and select Smart Home. Now an automatic check is performed to see if there is an IFTTT account already connected to your Automower® Connect account
If you have already connected your IFTTT account to your Automower® Connect account, you can use the Smart Connections out of the box. See Enable a Smart Connection below for more information.
If you have not connected an IFTTT account to your Automower® Connect account, follow the instructions below.
If you do not have an IFTTT account
If you do not have an IFTTT account, Automower® Connect will create one for you. Just enter an email address and tap Connect. (The email address you use to log in to your Automower® Connect account will be pre-populated, but you can change it to another if you want to).
When your IFTTT account has been created, you will receive an email to the specified email address asking you to create a password for your account. For the best experience when using Smart Connections, we recommend that you create a password, especially if you use multiple devices to control your mower. Using the IFTTT account on the same device as you set up the account on works fine without setting a password, but to use the account on another device, you need to set a password for the created account.
If you have an IFTTT account used for other purposes
If you already have an IFTTT account used for other purposes and want to use the same account for connecting to Automower® Connect, simply enter the email address used for your existing IFTTT account.
A verification email will now be sent to that email address to make sure that you have entered the correct information. Look for the verification email in your inbox and click the link in that email. You need to do this on the same device as you are using Automower® Connect.
When the verification is complete, your existing IFTTT account will be connected to your Automower® Connect account.
Enable a Smart Connection
- In the Automower® Connect app, tap the More button and select Smart Home.
- Select the Smart Connection you want to enable and tap the Connect slider (A). For details on the various Smart Connections, see Available Smart Connections below.
- Follow the instructions on the screen to set up the connection as desired.
Please note that first you have to allow IFTTT access to the service and data that you want to use. For example, if you want to use an IFTTT connection that uses your Google Calendar, you will need to allow it to access your Google Calendar and its data.

Smart Connections not working?
If you have multiple IFTTT accounts connected to your Automower® Connect account when activating the Smart Connections in the Automower® Connect app, it will create a conflict between the accounts and you will not be able to control your Automower® robotic lawn mower using the Smart Connections.
To be able to use the Smart Connections, make sure that you only have one IFTTT account connected to Automower® Connect. Simply remove the Husqvarna Automower® service from the IFTTT account that you do not want to use for controlling your Automower® robotic lawn mower. For information on how to do this, see Removing the connection between IFTTT and your Automower® Connect account. When you have done so, you should be able to use the Smart Connections in the Automower® Connect app.
