For smaller uneven areas, you can cut them into small squares, and for larger ones, cut a cross over the hole. It's easier to reach the right depth using an edging tool. Lift the turf, fill in with soil and/or sand, and replace the grass. Trample down and water. Levelling out large depressions in stages
How to raise the level of a lawn if there are deep depressions? Then the levelling needs to be done in stages. Start by filling with sand or soil, then proceed to sowing and watering. If you use sand, remember that it should not be too fine; a slightly coarser grade is better. Let the grass grow a bit before adding the next layer and repeating the process. If the unevenness in your lawn is larger but not very deep, the best approach is to top-dress the lawn with sand/soil in layers of 1–3 cm, also in several stages. The best time to level your lawn is usually at the end of summer. Then the soil is heated, and there is a lot of dew and other moisture, which causes the grass to germinate and grow quickly.
