Why is the grass collector on my lawn mower not filling?

While using your lawn mower, you may notice that the grass collector on your product is not filling.

There are several solutions to this issue.

Decrease the cutting height

If the cutting height on your lawn mower is too high, the grass collector on the product will not fill as it should.

How to set the cutting height

CAUTION: Do not set the cutting height too low. The blades can hit the ground if the surface of the lawn is not level.

The cutting height can be adjusted in multiple levels.

Move the cutting height lever to increase or decrease the cutting height. Check that you have the correct cutting height for your grass, max 1/3 of the height.

Depending on the model of your lawn mower, the cutting height lever design can vary:

Check for blockages and clean the cutting deck

The grass collector will not fill as it should if there is build up of grass, leaves and debris under the lawn mower.

Cleaning the cutting deck

WARNING: Use heavy-duty gloves. The blade is very sharp and cuts can easily occur.

WARNING: To prevent accidental starts, remove the ignition cable from the spark plug.

  1. Turn the product off.
  2. Put the product on its side with the air filter and the spark plug in the top position.
CAUTION: If the product is put with the air filter down, this can cause damage to the engine.
  3. Clean the underside of the product from grass and other debris. Use a brush to perform this task. If needed, gently hose down the inner surface of the cutting cover with water. Do not use a high-pressure washer to clean the product.
CAUTION: Make sure that the product is dry before using it.

Dirty grass collector

A dirty grass collector cannot vent air. This causes the grass collector not to fill. Simply empty the grass collector and continue mowing.
