Reference station communication problem — Automower® with EPOS™ technology error message

The error Reference station communication problem indicates issues with the connection between your Automower® robotic lawn mower and the EPOS™ reference station. Here are the possible causes and how to solve them:

Robotic lawn mower not connected

The robotic lawn mower is not connected to the reference station. Possible solutions:

  • Restart the mower: Turn the robotic lawn mower off and then back on to restart it.
  • Restart the reference station: Unplug the reference station, wait a moment and then plug it back in.
  • Pair the robotic lawn mower with the reference station: In the Automower® Connect app, pair the robotic lawn mower with the reference station. Go to My mowers > select your robotic lawn mower > Select EPOS™ setup and follow the instructions to establish a connection.

Incorrect installation

To ensure the reference station is correctly installed, check the following:

  • Full sky view: Ensure the reference station has a clear view of the sky (minimum 135 degrees).
  • Minimum height: Install the reference station at a height of at least 2 m/6.5 ft.
  • Distance to the robotic lawn mower: The distance between the reference station and the robotic lawn mower should be less than 100 m/330 ft. Be aware that objects in between can reduce this distance.
  • Wall installation: You can mount the reference station on a post or a wall. If installing on a wall, ensure the top of the reference station is above the wall.
  • Interference: Check for metal objects that may be interfering with the reference station's signal.

Weak radio signal

Test whether the robotic lawn mower receives the radio signal from the reference station throughout the entire work area. If this is not the case, consider reinstalling the reference station or updating the installed map.

Power failure

Check the cause of the power failure affecting the reference station and fix it, or simply wait until the power is restored.
